Following the success of last year’s inaugural festival, Wells Cathedral is once again inviting visitors to savour the very best of locally produced delicacies at their 2026 Cider & Cheese Festival.
On Saturday 26 September, Wells Cathedral will transform its magnificent space into a showcase of West Country craftsmanship, bringing together some of the finest local cider makers, artisan cheesemakers and food producers under one historic roof.
Alongside an extensive range of cheese and ciders, visitors will have the option to taste artisanal chutneys and preserves, as well as locally produced gin, vodka, rum and a variety of non-alcoholic drinks.
Organisers at the Cathedral say that the event, which will run from 12pm until 9pm, is designed to entertain all ages, with street food and a Pop-up Café, plus live music, entertainment for kids from Wookey Hole Caves and giant garden games.
For The Very Revd Toby Wright, Dean of Wells, the festival forms an important part of the Cathedral’s mission to become the UK’s most joyful cathedral. He explained:
“We were thrilled to welcome so many visitors to last year’s Wells Cathedral Cider & Cheese Festival – many of whom had never previously stepped inside this extraordinary building.
“We cannot wait to welcome everyone back again this year, to enjoy the very best of the West Country’s famous produce, along with live music and a fantastic atmosphere.”
Profits from the event will be used to support the charitable work of Wells Cathedral, helping to ensure that this significant piece of Somerset heritage has a future for generations to come.

Priced at £20 for adults and £15 for accompanied under-18s, the tickets include a commemorative Wells Cathedral Cider & Cheese Festival glass to take home and keep, an event programme with tasting notes, and full Cathedral access throughout the day on this truly unmissable event.
