Summer programme announced at Bridgwater Arts Centre

Bridgwater Arts Centre has announced a packed summer programme of live music, theatre, comedy and special events, with organisers encouraging residents to book early and support their local venue.

The Castle Street venue will host a wide range of performances between June and August, offering something for all ages and tastes.

Music takes centre stage throughout the summer, beginning with Eddi Reader & John Douglas on Sunday 7 June, bringing an intimate evening of acoustic performance and storytelling. The following weekend, The Ultimate Stone Roses arrive on Saturday 13 June, delivering a high-energy tribute to the iconic Manchester band and their much-loved back catalogue.

Later in the season, acclaimed guitarist Robbie McIntosh performs with his band on Friday 17 July, showcasing original material alongside well-known covers from a career that has seen him work with artists including Paul McCartney, Norah Jones and The Pretenders

Alongside the music programme, audiences can enjoy a strong line-up of theatre, comedy and special events. Calendar Girls takes to the stage on Tuesday 9 and Wednesday 10 June, telling the inspiring true story of friendship and community spirit, while comedian Alfie Moore brings his latest show ‘Acopalypse Now’ to Bridgwater on Thursday 18 June

There are also a number of special events throughout the summer, including a bold reimagining of opera classic Carmen from the Reduced Opera Company on Friday 3 July, followed by a night of glamour and laughter with Drag Bingo featuring Deidre Darling on Saturday 4 July.

Classical music fans are also well catered for this summer with a series of relaxed daytime concerts. The Classical Afternoons programme features Astor Palm Court on Wednesday 15 July, performing a selection of light classical favourites alongside entertaining commentary, followed by Trio Paradis on Wednesday 12 August, a Somerset-based ensemble known for bringing accessible and engaging classical performances to community audiences.

For those looking to get hands-on, the Arts Centre is also offering a range of creative workshops throughout the summer. These include an Art & Prosecco session on Saturday 6 June, a Writing from Art masterclass on Saturday 20 June, and a Willow Workshop on Saturday 25 July, giving participants the chance to learn traditional craft skills.

In August, a Lino Printing Workshop on Friday 14 August offers a further opportunity to explore printmaking techniques in a relaxed, creative environment.

Bridgwater Arts Centre is a vibrant community hub located at 11-13 Castle Street, Bridgwater, Somerset.
