Families can head out in pursuit of pumpkins and enjoy plenty of autumn adventures at The Bishop’s Palace and Gardens in Wells this October half term.
From 17th October until 1st November, a harvest-themed Pumpkin Hunt will take children and their families around the medieval Palace and its 14 acres of RHS Partner Gardens, offering the perfect excuse to get outdoors, stretch little legs and enjoy some fresh autumn air.
There’s even more happening on two special Thursdays. On 22nd October, the Palace’s much-loved Art Adventurers returns to the historic Undercroft, while on 29th October, young Nature Ninjas can head to the Community Garden to make beautiful dream catchers.
And there’s plenty more to discover throughout a family day out at the Palace.
Young visitors can explore Bishop Wynne Willson’s recreated study, complete with its Cabinet of Curiosity, challenge the family to traditional games at the Table of Games or step into history by trying on one of the Palace’s costumes.
Families can also explore the Palace with interactive audio-visual guides, including a special version created for children, before heading outside to burn off some energy in the Dragon’s Lair. Inspired by the stories and landscape of the Palace, the outdoor play area includes tree pods, a pole jungle, waterwheel and sluice gates.
And, of course, there are 14 acres of autumn gardens to explore, the famous Palace swans to spot and the Bishop’s Table café for a well-earned drink, lunch or slice of cake afterwards.
All October half term activities are included with standard admission and are free for Annual Pass holders and Friends of the Palace.
