Two distinguished male voice choirs — Cheddar Male Choir and Côr Meibion Morlais from Ferndale in the Rhondda — will come together on Saturday 3rd October for a special joint concert celebrating the life of Roy Wills, a much‑loved figure in both communities.
The event will take place at St Andrew’s C of E Church, Cheddar BS27 3RF. Doors will open at 7:00pm, with the concert beginning at 7:30pm.
Roy Wills played a remarkable role in the world of male voice singing. He was a former Vice President of Morlais Male Choir and one of the founder members of Cheddar Male Choir when it was established in 1995. His passion, commitment, and warmth left a lasting imprint on both choirs, making this joint performance a fitting tribute to his memory.
The concert will support Cheddar Male Choir’s own charity, continuing Roy’s legacy of community spirit and musical generosity.
Audiences can expect a vibrant and varied programme. Both choirs are known for performing an exciting mix of repertoire which spans all centuries and styles; from opera to rap and pop, Musical Theatre and some of the traditional Welsh favourites: music to suit all tastes. Most concerts feature a lively blend from all these genres, showcasing the versatility and rich tradition of male voice singing.
Côr Meibion Morlais brings with it a proud heritage dating back to February 1928, while Cheddar Male Choir continues its journey from its founding in 1995. Together, they will offer an evening of music that honours the past and brings you up to date, celebrates friendship, and reflects the enduring power of choral harmony.
Tickets are £10 and available online from Eventbrite or Deane’s of Cheddar and Draycott Community Store.
